Introduction to the Association of Sound Designers

The ASD is a community of UK Sound Professionals and Students. Our aim is to provide a network of support to those working in theatre sound, through educational and professional development resources, social events, access to equipment and our mentorship scheme.
The ASD also provides a mouthpiece for the industry - to vocalise the issues our members face, and to improve their working lives. Our focus for the coming year is on improving access to sound making as a career for a broad diversity of young people. The ASD is a registered charity, run by a Board of 6 people. Our membership is formed of Professionals, Associates, Future Professionals and Corporate Members. We communicate through a monthly newsletter The Herald and a twice yearly print magazine The Echo. There is a Forum through which members connect with each other to ask work questions and share knowledge, and Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Role and responsibilities

The Executive Administrator works alongside the Board to run the day to day activities of the Association and to implement and manage the key calendar events the ASD runs. They are the first point of contact for members and external enquiries.

The Executive Administrator works together with the Administrator Liaison, who manages the public face and voice of the ASD.

The role is freelance, so good time management is essential.

The successful candidate will be expected to manage their ASD work around other work commitments, and complete tasks by the required deadlines.

Responsibilities include:
● Membership management and administration, including, but not limited to, renewals, invoicing and Public Liability Insurance.
● Delivery and management of ASD Events in collaboration with the Board, including Socials, Education Seminars, Winter School and attendance at industry trade shows.
● Compiling The Herald newsletter each month, in collaboration with the Board and Administrator Liaison, and to publish.
● Manage production of the Echo magazine in collaboration with the Board, including image sourcing, contributor curation, corporate advertising and print process.
● Maintain Website updates, in collaboration with Administrator Liaison.
● Payments and banking, including recording and collation of Stripe Accounts and transactions with treasurer and for submission to Accountants.
● Maintenance of mailing lists and ASD records.
● Accurate record keeping of all Board meetings.

Key requirements (qualifications and skills)
The ASD is a community as well as an Association and the Executive Administrator oversees this community day to day, supporting the members and providing a much needed sense of connection.
