Mic’s involvement in theatre sound extends over 40 years. He has been resident at the Lyric Theatre Hammersmith, the Royal Court Theatre, and toured internationally with Ballet Rambert. He has designed the sound for over 350 productions including more than 200 for West Yorkshire Playhouse where he worked for 23 years, as its first head of sound, as resident sound designer, as an associate director and from 2000 as Director of Creative Technology. He was nominated for both the Lucille Lortel and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Sound Design 2001 for the New York production of The Unexpected Man. Mic was nominated for eight awards for productions of The 39 Steps worldwide, including the 2007 Laurence Olivier Award. He won the first Tony ever awarded to a sound designer (Best Sound Design in a Play for the Broadway production of The 39 Steps).
